Tier 4 Testing

As part of the implementation of the new Tier 4 locomotives, the Federal Railroad Administration gave Metrolink approval to begin testing one locomotive starting on June 1, 2017. The testing period is expected to last up to three months, beginning with “static testing” at Keller Yard and the Central Maintenance Facility

On June 10, testing will move to the tracks on the Pasadena subdivision, which includes the cities of Pomona, San Dimas, LaVerne, Glendora, Azusa and Irwindale, on a right of way that is not normally used by Metrolink trains.

The federally mandated testing is scheduled to expand to the Antelope Valley Line on June 13 and the Orange County Line June 17.

Upon completion, Metrolink will deploy Tier 4 locomotives which are up to 85% cleaner than existing locomotives. For more information, click here

This schedule is subject to change. Metrolink will keep residents informed of any updates.
