I-5 Corridor Improvements - SR 134 to Buena Vista Street - Feb. 11-19, 2016

Construction Activities  

Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.

SR 134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Bridge Construction: Work on Sonora Avenue, Alameda Avenue and Western Avenue Bridges.  Place mulching materials on slopes.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Buena Vista Bridge (Winona Bridge): Form and pour soffit and stems (lower part of bridge structure) for southbound I-5 widening.

Buena Vista Railroad Bridge: Form and pour of median pier footings and abutments (supporting structures at the ends of the bridge span).

Buena Vista Ramps:  Form and pave shoulder.

Empire Avenue: Form and pour underpass abutment walls. Retaining wall and drainage work.

Railroad Retaining Wall: Installation of precast wall panels between Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard.

Victory Place: Forming of abutments for the bridge and walls.

Old San Fernando Road Tunnel: Concrete crushing and storm drain work.

Utility Work:  Conduit work on Victory Place between Empire Avenue and Maria Street. Flaggers will direct motorists.

Closures and Detours

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

+ The Los Angeles River Bike Path between Riverside Drive and just south of the SR-134 overcrossing in the City of Los Angeles will be closed through spring 2016.  A signed detour is posted that directs bike path users to Zoo Drive and Western Heritage Way.  See map here.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Intermittent closure of the southbound I-5 Burbank Boulevard off-ramp for equipment loading (night work).

+ Buena Vista Street closures between Winona Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard - Thursday, February 11th through Friday, February 19th:

  • Day closures: Intermittent lane closures in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The street will remain open to motorists.  
  • Night closures: Intermittent full street closures in both directions from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detours will be posted.
