I-5 Corridor Improvements SR-134 to Buena Vista Street

Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.

SR 134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Bridge Work: Pier construction near the Los Angeles River Bike Path.  

Los Angeles River Bridge: Soundwall installation.

Slope beautification and erosion control: Lay mulch and wood chips on slopes near Alameda Avenue and Verdugo Avenue.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Burbank Western Channel: Prep work for installation of concrete panels on channel. Work includes removal of channel fence and top of the existing channel wall adjacent to Leland Way between the former northbound I-5 Walnut Avenue on-ramp and University Avenue. Click here for more information. 

Buena Vista Street Bridge (Winona Bridge): Form deck for southbound I-5 widening.

Empire Avenue Railroad Underpass: Construction of retaining wall footings along Empire Avenue in front of abutments. Construction of retaining walls.

Railroad Retaining Wall: Installation of the covering on the top of the wall (coping) between Hollywood Way and Buena Vista Street.


SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

+ The Los Angeles River Bike Path between Riverside Drive and just south of the SR-134 overcrossing in the City of Los Angeles will be closed through spring 2016. A signed detour is posted that directs bike path users to Zoo Drive and Western Heritage Way. See map here.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

+ Intermittent nighttime lanes closures on southbound I-5 between Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard.

+ Intermittent nighttime ramp closures at southbound Buena Vista Street off-ramp and southbound Burbank Boulevard off-ramp.

+ Buena Vista Street closures between Winona Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard:

  • Day closures: Intermittent lane closures in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The street will remain open to motorists.  
  • Night closures: Intermittent full street closures in both directions from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detours will be posted.
