FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Crews have resumed pile driving activity along northbound I-5 at Florence Avenue. Work will be conducted weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing intermittently for the next four to six weeks. Please be advised that this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity.

Crews are continuing daytime work on the cul-de-sacs along Dollison Drive in the City of Downey and Buell Street in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Work is intermittent Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

Crews in the area will be working to form soundwalls along northbound and southbound I-5 as well as pouring concrete for the new soundwall adjacent to southbound I-5. This work will be conducted Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately the next two weeks.

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT

Construction crews are clearing vegetation, forming retaining walls, and moving construction equipment along Spry Street and Arlee Avenue. This work will be conducted weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately three months. Residents are advised to take precautions to ensure pedestrian and roadway safety. Please be advised, work may be noisy due to construction equipment moving on- and off-site, truck back up alarms, and other construction related noise.

Crews will be placing new rock blanket at the following intersections:

  • Adoree Street and Imperial Highway
  • Kalnor Avenue and Imperial Highway
  • Union Street and Paddison Avenue
  • Imperial Highway and S. Frontage Road

Crews will be performing landscaping and paving activities along Mondon Avenue between Gem and Pluton Streets. This work will be conducted Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Retaining wall work adjacent to northbound I-5, near Norwalk Boulevard, will be ongoing for the next four weeks. This work will be conducted Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Also, a concrete barrier will be installed on both northbound and southbound I-5, just south of the Orr and Day bridge by the Union Pacific railroad tracks. The contractor will also be placing block wall on northbound I-5 just south of Orr and Day Road.

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT

Crews will close N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue/Markdale Avenue, intermittently between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, October 3 through Friday, October 7. These closures are needed as crews complete the construction of the new soundwall.

There are no scheduled closures at Rosecrans Avenue this week. Nightly closures, in both directions underneath I-5, will resume next week Monday, October 10 through Friday, October 14.

On September 16 crews closed the northbound I-5 Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp for approximately three to four months. This closure is needed as crews continue construction to widen the I-5 freeway; the ramp must be reconstructed and realigned in order to accommodate the newly widened freeway. The closure area is shown on the map below in red; motorists will be directed to exit Carmenita Road and turn right, then proceed straight on Carmenita Road to access Rosecrans Avenue. The detour route is highlighted in green. Detour signs will be posted to direct motorists. For additional information regarding these closures, please visit the project Google Map

Pile driving activity is underway adjacent to northbound I-5 near Rosecrans Avenue. This work will be conducted intermittently for the next several months, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  As this work is underway, flaggers will be on site to direct traffic, while crews transfer piles from the contractor's yard onto the construction site. While transferring piles, portions of Bloomfield Avenue, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue may be temporarily blocked during the daytime. Pile driving activity is needed as crews construct structure foundations for the new retaining walls and soundwalls in the project area. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity.

CARMENITA ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Crews are continuing sandblasting work on the sound wall along Firestone Boulevard. This work will take place weekdays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately one to two months. While work is being done on the soundwall, there will be no through access to Firestone Boulevard between Shoemaker Avenue and Dinard Avenue. No through access signs will be placed in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closures. The closure areas are shown on the map below in red.

Finally, daytime work is ongoing behind k-rail in the center median to construct the new median barrier rail between Alondra Boulevard and Shoemaker Avenue on I-5.

Please visit the project Google map for detailed detour information regarding these closures.
