November 18, 2016

Week of November 20, 2016

HOLIDAY CLOSURE SCHEDULE: In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no closures scheduled on Thursday, November 24.

FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Pile driving operations have tentatively stopped along northbound I-5 at Florence Avenue and will resume in early January 2017.

Crews are continuing daytime work on the cul-de-sacs along Dollison Drive in the City of Downey and Buell Street in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Work is intermittent, Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT

Construction crews are clearing vegetation, forming retaining walls, and moving construction equipment along Spry Street and Arlee Avenue. This work will be performed weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately three months. Residents are advised to take precautions to ensure pedestrian and roadway safety.

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT

Crews will close N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue/Markdale Avenue, intermittently between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, November 21 through Thursday, November 24. These closures are needed as crews complete the construction of the new soundwall.

Rosecrans Avenue will be closed intermittently to all through traffic (motorists and pedestrians) in both directions underneath I-5, nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, November 21 through Thursday, November 24. These closures are needed as crews begin pouring columns and installing falsework on the Rosecrans Avenue bridge. Rosecrans Avenue closures will continue weeknights, Monday through Friday, intermittently for the next two to four months. For detour information visit the project Google Map.

Pile driving activity is underway adjacent to northbound I-5 near Rosecrans Avenue. This work will be performed intermittently for the next several months, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  As this work is underway, flaggers will be on site to direct traffic, while crews transfer piles from the contractor's yard onto the construction site. While transferring piles, portions of Bloomfield Avenue, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue may be temporarily blocked during the daytime.

CARMENITA ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT

On Tuesday, November 22  night crews will reduce lanes on southbound I-5 at Carmenita Road between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. These lane reductions are needed as crews continue striping operations.

VALLEY VIEW AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Multiple utility relocations are ongoing through the construction site. There will be intermittent lane reductions on both N. Firestone Boulevard and S. Firestone Boulevard. Work will be performed Monday through Friday.

Crews will begin clearing and grubbing work on the medians on the Valley View Avenue bridge, between Vine Place and Alondra Boulevard. Lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

At the beginning of next month, a portion of S. Firestone Boulevard at Coyote Creek channel will be closed for utility relocation. Work will be conducted Monday to Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Businesses along Firestone Boulevard will remain open and detour signs will be posted.  The detour area is shown in red below.
