November 23, 2016

Week of November 27, 2016

FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Pile driving operations have tentatively stopped along northbound I-5 at Florence Avenue and will resume in early January 2017.

Crews are continuing daytime work on the cul-de-sacs along Dollison Drive in the City of Downey and Buell Street in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Work is intermittent, Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT

Construction crews are clearing vegetation, forming retaining walls, and moving construction equipment along Spry Street and Arlee Avenue. This work will be performed weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately three months. Residents are advised to take precautions to ensure pedestrian and roadway safety.

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction will be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT

Crews will close N. Firestone Boulevard, between Rosecrans Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue/Markdale Avenue, intermittently between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 2. These closures are needed as crews complete the construction of the new soundwall.

Rosecrans Avenue will be closed intermittently to all through traffic (motorists and pedestrians) in both directions underneath I-5, nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 2. These closures are needed as crews begin pouring columns and installing falsework on the Rosecrans Avenue bridge. Rosecrans Avenue closures will continue weeknights, Monday through Friday, intermittently for the next two to four months. For detour information visit the project Google Map.

Pile driving activity is underway adjacent to northbound I-5 near Rosecrans Avenue. This work will be performed intermittently for the next several months, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  As this work is underway, flaggers will be on site to direct traffic, while crews transfer piles from the contractor's yard onto the construction site. While transferring piles, portions of Bloomfield Avenue, between Rosecrans Avenue and Markdale Avenue may be temporarily blocked during the daytime.

CARMENITA ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Crews are continuing sandblasting work on the sound wall along Firestone Boulevard. This work will take place weekdays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be ongoing for approximately one to two months. While this work is being done on the soundwall, there will be no through access to Firestone Boulevard between Shoemaker Avenue and Dinard Avenue. No through access signs will be placed in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closures. For more information on the location of these closures, please visit the project Google Map.

VALLEY VIEW AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT

Multiple utility relocations are ongoing throughout the construction site. There will be intermittent lane reductions on both N. Firestone Boulevard, S. Firestone Boulevard and Valley View Boulevard. Work will be performed Monday through Friday.

Starting December 1, a portion of S. Firestone Boulevard at Coyote Creek channel will be closed for utility relocation for a period of 4 - 6 months. Work will be conducted Monday to Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Businesses along Firestone Boulevard will remain open and detour signs will be posted. The detour area is shown in red below.  As part of this work, one I-5 southbound lane will be temporarily closed for k-rail placement on Friday, December 2. Work will be performed between 12 a.m. - 4 a.m.

Please visit the project Google map for detailed detour information regarding these closures.

DISCLAIMER: Due to the dynamic nature of construction, please note that all dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather. Please be advised that pile driving work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity. Also be advised that construction work may be noisy due to construction equipment moving on- and off-site, truck back-up alarms, and other construction related noise.
