I-5 Corridor Improvements for May 17-22, 2015

Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.

  • Northbound I-5 Soundwall Reconstruction: Crews are reconstructing a section of soundwall along northbound I-5 between Jackson Street and Keystone Street. This work will continue through August 2015. For more information click here.
  • Leland Way Soundwall Reconstruction: Crews are constructing a new soundwall along northbound I-5 adjacent to Leland Way. This work will continue through June 2015. For more information click here.
  • Additional Retaining Wall/Soundwall Work: Work will occur at the following locations:
    • Near the southbound I-5 Empire Avenue on- and off-ramps
    • Old Southbound Scott Road off-ramp
    • South of Buena Vista Street
    • Southbound I-5 Buena Vista Street on-ramp

  • Victory Place Bridge: Continuing through the end of May 2015, crews will be drilling and installing metal plates for the shoring wall needed for the Victory Place bridge. This work will occur at night, 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Residents may notice some noise and/or vibration.

Temporary Railroad Tracks: Track placement, signal installation and testing.


·         To complete work on the elevated railroad tracks, three turn pockets have been closed at the Buena Vista Street/San Fernando Boulevard intersection, as listed below. The closures will be in place for approximately two years. For more information click here.

Left Turn Pocket Closures

Left turns prohibited.

·         Eastbound San Fernando Boulevard to northbound Buena Vista Street.
·         Southbound Buena Vista Street to eastbound San Fernando Boulevard.

Right Turn Pocket Closures

Turn pockets closed, but turns are permitted.

·         Westbound San Fernando Boulevard to northbound Buena Vista Street.

·         One lane of southbound I-5 between Western Avenue and SR-134 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

·         Intermittent closures on Victory Place near Empire Avenue at night. Flaggers will direct motorists.
