LOS ANGELES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close lanes and ramps in both directions of the Santa Ana Freeway (Interstate 5) between the San Gabriel River Freeway (Interstate 605) and the Long Beach Freeway (Interstate 710) nightly for guardrail installation from Sunday, July 26 through Thursday, July 30, as follows:  

Sunday night (7/26):

Northbound and southbound I-5 at Lakewood Blvd.

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – right lane closed each direction.

• 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – northbound and southbound on-ramps closed from northbound Lakewood Blvd.

Monday night (7/27):

Northbound at Lemoran pedestrian overcrossing, south of Lakewood Blvd.

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – right lane closed.

Southbound at Lakewood Blvd. 

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – right lane closed.

• 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – southbound on-ramp closed from southbound Lakewood Blvd.

Tuesday night (7/28):

Northbound and southbound at Paramount Blvd.

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – one right lane closed each direction.

• 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – northbound on-ramp from and southbound off-ramp to Paramount Blvd. closed. 

Wednesday night (7/29):

Northbound at Washington Blvd.

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – one right lane closed.

• 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – northbound on-ramp from Washington Blvd. closed.

Thursday night (7/30):

Northbound at I-605 interchange

• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – southbound I-605 to northbound I-5 connector closed.

• 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – northbound I-605 to northbound I-5 connector closed.

This is a tentative schedule and may change pending weather and field conditions.

These closures are related to a $10 million pavement preservation project on I-5 from Interstate 605 to the Long Beach Freeway (Interstate 710) which began in summer 2014 and will end in 2016. Security Paving is the contractor.
