Construction Activities - I-5 Between Orange County Line to the I-605

FLORENCE AVENUE INTERCHANGE PROJECT
Construction activity is ongoing on sound walls and retaining walls along the northbound and southbound I-5, between Orr & Day Road and the Florence Avenue Bridge. In addition, crews opened Dollison Drive at Studebaker Road  to through traffic. 

IMPERIAL HIGHWAY & PIONEER BOULEVARD PROJECT
Adoree Street, between Norwalk Boulevard and Kalnor Avenue, has reopened to through traffic. 

Crews have completed demolishing portions of the San Antonio Drive and Imperial Highway bridges at I-5. Demolition activity at the Pioneer Boulevard is currently underway and should be completed by Sunday, Aug. 16. Pioneer Boulevard will be closed to all through traffic underneath I-5, between 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 and 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14.

Daytime partial lane closures (one lane in each direction) will be ongoing on San Antonio Drive at I-5, Imperial Highway at I-5, and Pioneer Boulevard at I-5, may be in effect, weekdays (Monday through Friday) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Work on Union Street, between San Antonio Drive and Paddison Avenue, is ongoing and will be underway for a few more weeks. Union Street is being widened, sidewalks will be reconstructed and the street will become a cul-de-sac adjacent to San Antonio Drive. Access for local residents will be maintained at all times. Construction activity is also ongoing with several sound walls along the northbound and southbound I-5. In addition, work continues on the frontage roads along the northbound I-5 (Adoree Street) and southbound I-5 (Southbound Frontage Road). 

ROSECRANS AVENUE & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT
Daytime crusher activities in the center of the freeway was completed this week. The latest pile driving activity at Bloomfield Avenue was partially completed this week; this activity will resume in two weeks. The contractor anticipates pile driving activity will begin at the Rosecrans Avenue bridge in September. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding relate to pile driving activity. 

CARMENITA ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT 
Daytime pile driving activity is underway to construct the new northbound I-5 Carmenita Road off-ramp and the retaining walls at the new Excelsior / Carmenita intersection. This work will take place weekdays (Monday through Friday) between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. This activity will be ongoing at this location for approximately the next two to three weeks. Please be advised this work may be loud and disruptive due to equipment noise, vibration and pounding related to pile driving activity.  

The intersection of Excelsior Drive and Carmenita Road is closed temporarily, while the intersection is reconstructed to tie in with the new bridge. Also, the northbound I-5 Carmenita Road off-ramp has been temporarily reconfigured. Motorists that exit northbound I-5 at Carmenita will be directed to turn right on Excelsior Drive, left on Spring Avenue and left on Pumice Street to access Carmenita Road. As a result of the traffic shift onto the new Carmenita bridge, the traffic pattern at the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Carmenita Road has been temporarily detoured; motorists exiting southbound I-5 at Carmenita will only be permitted to continue straight on Firestone.
