Metrolink to Double Weekend Service During 91 Closure

All 91 Line and IE-OC Line Metrolink tickets "2 for the price of 1" Feb. 20-21

Metrolink will double its weekend service on both the Inland Empire-Orange County Line and the 91 Line Saturday, Feb. 20 and Sunday, Feb. 21 to support a full closure of the 91 between State Road 71 and Interstate 15.

The extra special train service is being paid for by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC).

Metrolink is offering a "2 for the price of 1" promotion where those with a valid ticket or pass can have one additional person on the train for free. The promotional offer is only good for Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.

Due to the road closure's impact, motorists are urged to "steer clear" of the area during this project. To minimize major travel delays during the closure, transportation officials recommend motorists avoid travel in the area or use public transportation.

Metrolink’s regular weekend service offers two round trips on each rail line. On Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, Metrolink will offer two additional round trips on both the Inland Empire-Orange County Line and the 91 Line for a total of 16 trains to assist people avoiding the 91.

The full closure of the 91 will occur between the 71 and I-15 from Friday, Feb. 19, at 9 p.m. to Monday, Feb. 22 at 4 a.m.

Metrolink will operate its regular schedule on both Friday and Monday.

The 55-hour weekend closure of the 91 will allow crews to consolidate three major construction activities and help ensure the safety of project crews and motorists by reducing the possibility of conflicts. In case of rainstorms or inclement weather, the closure and extra train service will be postponed to the next weekend, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling on the 91, the 71 or I-15 near the project area during the closure can expect travel delays of three to four hours.

See the complete train schedule with the special service on the IE-OC and 91 lines below.
