Lunar New Year 2012 – The Year of the Dragon

Continue the New Year celebration with the 113th annual Golden Dragon Parade in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m.  This parade is a community tradition that has expanded to include many floats, marching bands, government officials and local business leaders.  Last year thousands of people lined the parade route in Chinatown to view the famous dragon dance.

Los Angeles Chinatown will host the Lunar New Year Festival the weekend of Jan. 28 and 29.  The Lunar New Year Festival commences after the parade with cultural performances by some of the nation's best Chinese acts. Enjoy one or several cultural workshops and sample the many gourmet food trucks at the event. Wildly popular Cupcake Wars will be on hand with 1000 Chinese New Year themed cupcakes for attendees to enjoy. The Chinese New Year Festival is free and open to all ages.

How to Get to the Parade

The parade will start at Temple Street and Hill Street, continuing up Hill Street to Bernard Street, and then returning back through Chinatown on North Broadway Street.  Click here for a map of the parade route.

Ride a Metrolink train to L.A. Union Station.  You can transfer free to the Metro Gold Line and exit at the Chinatown station.  You will be within a few blocks of the parade route.
