Rail 2 Rail® Program

The Rail 2 Rail® program will be suspended between Thursday, July 20 and Sunday, July 23 as Amtrak anticipates higher than usual ridership for the opening weekend of the Del Mar Racetrack & the San Diego Comic-Con International.
Amtrak is also expecting higher than usual ridership on its trains Wednesday. Rail2Rail passengers can expect limited seating availability on Pacific Surfliner trains and may want to take a Metrolink train instead.

Metrolink commuters who often ride Amtrak 784 (departs Los Angeles Union Station at 5:10 p.m.) will have the option of Metrolink trains 604 (4:30 p.m.), 688 (4:50 p.m.), 606 (5:46 p.m.) or 608 (6:40 p.m.)
The Rail 2 Rail® program will resume on Monday, July 24.

These additional trains are not available to holders of One-Way and Round-Trip tickets or 7-Day Passes except for Shared Service trains (A768 and A761) on the Ventura County Line.  A Shared Service train is an Amtrak train that operates in a Metrolink train slot.  All Metrolink tickets (One-Way, Round-Trip, 7-Day and Monthly Passes) are accepted on those trains at any time.

The Rail 2 Rail® program does NOT include travel on Coast Starlight trains.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Monthly Pass holders may ride any Metrolink train within the station pairs on their pass at no additional charge.
