Today, Metrolink announced it has achieved the highest annual ridership in the almost 27-year history of the agency with 11,935,356 boardings in fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019. The new record is an increase of 247,000 from the prior year and eclipses the previous record of 11,796,086 set in FY 2008-2009. A fiscal year for Metrolink spans from July 1 of one calendar year through June 30 of the next.

Today, Metrolink announced that scheduled track maintenance to improve safety and reliability on the Antelope Valley Line will interrupt train service between the Via Princessa and Vincent Grade/Acton stations. The work will take place on the weekends of Aug.17-18 and Aug. 31-Sept. 2, Labor Day. There will be transportation provided along the entire line through train and bus service.

These three positions will be critical as the team delivers on Wiggins’ customer-focused vision to create a modern commuter rail system that is safe and integrated with other transportation systems to best serve Southern Californians.

Today, Metrolink announced that trains on the San Bernardino Line will operate on a Sunday schedule on this Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21, while buses will connect the Rancho Cucamonga, Upland and Montclair stations due to track maintenance to improve safety and reliability.

Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey will be heard on board Metrolink trains on the 91/Perris Valley line as the mayor serves as a “Guest Train Conductor.” The guest conductor welcomes travelers aboard in a recorded message, announces upcoming stops and gives information on points of interest along the way.

Today, Metrolink announced that on Thursday, July 4, Independence Day, it will operate its Sunday schedule, so travelers can get around the system easily and take advantage of the $10 Holiday ticket for unlimited rides for the day.

Today, the Metrolink Board of Directors approved the Fiscal Year 2020 (FY2020) budget totaling $329.7 million, which includes funding to improve service on several lines, investments in safety technology and no increase in fares.
