Northbound Full Freeway & WB-91/NB-5 Connector Closures

Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct overnight FULL FREEWAY CLOSURES on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway (I-5), from Valley View Avenue to Rosecrans Avenue, Monday through Thursday, October 13 - 16,  from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m.   Also, two of three southbound I-5 lanes will be closed from Rosecrans Avenue to Alondra Blvd. and the westbound SR-91 connector to northbound I-5 will fully close during the same hours.  Portable digital message signs will direct northbound I-5 motorists to continue on westbound SR-91, to northbound I-605 to reconnect to northbound I-5.

Prior to the start of full freeway closure at midnight, Caltrans will close one northbound I-5 lane from Valley View Ave to Rosecrans Ave. from 10 p.m. to midnight to set up the closure.

Motorists will be directed to re-enter northbound I-5 at the Rosecrans Ave. on-ramp. The detour is:  from northbound I-5, exit at Valley View Ave.; turn left at Firestone Blvd., right onto Valley View Ave., left onto Rosecrans Ave., right onto Firestone Blvd, to re-enter northbound I-5.

The work involves installing falsework, the temporary wood structure, for the new Carmenita Road Bridge and paving within the freeway center median.

The California Highway Patrol will be onsite for traffic control and safety.
Crews and large equipment will be working in various areas within the closure areas.
Please be "Work Zone Alert" and "Slow for the Cone Zone."

The work is part of the $1.8 billion Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) South Corridor Improvement Projects to construct one carpool and one general purpose lane in each direction from the Los Angeles/Orange County line to Interstate 605.  The motoring public, residents and businesses are encouraged to sign-up for notification on street, lane and ramp closures by calling the toll-free I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects information line (855) 454-6335 or by visiting www.I-5info.com
